IPTV Canada FAQ: about IPTV

What is iptv?

IPTV, Internet Protocol Television, is live and on-demand television delivered as a data stream over your internet connection rather than through cable, satellite or an antenna. You watch it in a player app on a device you already own. IPTV True North supplies the login the app uses; the content categories are live sports, movies, series, kids and family, news and documentaries.

How does iptv work?

Your app signs in with the Xtream Codes details or M3U link we send by e-mail. When you choose a programme, the server sends only that stream to your device, so bandwidth is used efficiently. A connection of about 25 Mbps is comfortable for one HD stream, and a wired connection is more stable than Wi-Fi. There is no receiver to rent and no dish to install. Our blog post What is IPTV and how does it work in Canada? goes deeper.

What does iptv stand for?

Internet Protocol Television. "Internet Protocol" is the addressing system that moves data across the internet; IPTV simply uses it to carry television.

What is epg in iptv?

EPG stands for Electronic Programme Guide: the on-screen grid showing what is playing now and next on each channel. With an Xtream Codes login the EPG loads automatically in apps such as IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate. If the guide is empty, force a refresh in the app and wait a few minutes; the first download is the slowest.

IPTV as a technology is lawful. Whether a particular stream is lawful depends on the rights held by its source, judged under the Copyright Act. We cannot give legal advice and do not claim to be a legal or licensed provider. Our neutral explainer Is IPTV legal in Canada? sets out the law.

Plans and prices

How much is iptv?

With IPTV True North, one screen costs $19 CAD for 1 month, $79 CAD for 12 months or $139 CAD for 24 months. Twelve-month multi-screen plans cost $129 CAD for 2 screens, $169 CAD for 3 screens and $199 CAD for 4 screens. Every price includes tax and is paid once. See the price page.

Does my plan renew automatically?

No. Every plan has a fixed term and ends on its end date. We store no payment method and never charge you again without a new order. To continue, you order a new term in the chat; your login stays the same.

How many screens can I use?

As many installs as you like, but only the number in your plan may play at the same time: 1 on the single-screen plans, 2, 3 or 4 on the multi-screen plans. More than 4 is quoted in the chat. See the subscription hub.

Can I change plans during my term?

Yes. Ask in the chat; the agent quotes the difference for the time remaining and explains how the change is applied.

Is iptv worth it?

That depends on what you watch. If you want live television across sports, news and kids content plus on-demand movies and series in one app, on hardware you already own, at a tax-included CAD price with no renewal, IPTV True North is built for that. The 24-hour trial answers the question on your own TV.

Do I need an IPTV box?

Usually not. Any Fire TV Stick, Android box, Apple TV, Roku or recent Samsung or LG Smart TV runs an IPTV app. A dedicated box is only worth buying for a main TV where you want Ethernet and more memory. See IPTV box: do you need one?.

Problems

Why does my iptv keep freezing?

Most often Wi-Fi congestion at peak hours. Connect the TV by Ethernet, switch to the 5 GHz band, pause other downloads and increase the buffer in the app. If every channel fails on every device including mobile data, open the chat. Full checklist: IPTV not working.

How do I contact support?

Through the 24/7 live chat on this site, or by e-mail at [email protected]. Support is in English. Tell us your device, your app and what fails, and whether it works on another device. See the contact page.
